Frequently asked questions

Why choose Dr Schatz?

(1) Experience as Course Director of a QLTS firm qualifying solicitors  over several years, with an excellent pass rate

(2) High energy and engaging teaching

(3) I am very good at explaining the complicated in a way that is both simple and memorable

(4) This is not one of the big providers! It is a much more personal programme with weekly interaction and a live Zoom class.  It is so much more than a series of materials to follow on a website.

How can I enrol in your Prep course or Revision Weekend?

You can enrol in any of the courses by contacting us directly or visiting our website to sign up. The Pricing page shows the individual detail.

What do I need before I can enrol on an SQE Prep Course?

You need to be;

  • a graduate, with any degree, or equivalent*
  • a final year LLB student (assessment cannot be taken unless you have graduated with a degree)
  • a practicing overseas legal professional

*SRA | Degree or equivalent | Solicitors Regulation Authority

You do not need;

  • any other course to prepare for the SQE Prep course if you meet the above criteria

How long is the standard Prep course?

Details below are for the Core Prep course

  • SQE1- Every Saturday morning for 34 sessions over a 12-month period, OR on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays for 34 sessions over a 6-month period.
  • SQE2 - Every Saturday morning for 23 sessions over a 6-month period. Included is the Revision Masterclass weekend at the end of the course.
  • Please contact for any bespoke options- we have several delegates on a more intense and shorter plan

Do you run an intensive course?

Yes! We meet twice per week for 34 sessions over 17 weeks. We prepare over a 6-month period.

  • These are generally for legal professionals and overseas lawyers, but can be for anyone
  • Recommended study time is 2-3 hours day plus 12-14 hours over the weekend

Can I book for just FLK1 or FLK2 of SQE1?

Yes! We have had quite a few do this.

Please get in touch to dicuss timings.

Can I join the course late?

Of course! Please get in touch.

  • You will be able to catch up on the recordings of the missed sessions whilst joining the live ones going forward.
  • There will be a cut-off point, and if we feel it is too late for you to catch up will will direct you to another course. This is the preserve the integrity of the course and to give you the best changce for success with the exams.

What materials do you use?

A combination of my own materials and I teach from the ReviseSQE books. I highly recommend this set for SQE1 and SQE2, and my students receive a discount on books purchased via the publisher.

Can I self-study?

Of course you can, but Schatz Legal Learning does not provide materials for this.

The SQE is a tough, and expensive journey to get wrong. Self-studying is hard, and I believe that tuition is needed, which is why my sessions cover all aspects in detail with full explanations as to why something may be right or wrong. I coach to pass the exam- which is what you need!

What is the format of the Live Revision Weekends?

Our live 2-day Revision Weekends are a 'Masterclass', and include interactive sessions, practical exercises, and mock exams to simulate exam conditions. See 'Live Revision' page for more details. Held via Zoom.

Who is the Live 'Revision Weekend' aimed at?

A very popular choice with overseas lawyers, paralegals and law graduates who already have a detailed understanding of law.

This is perfect if you have;

(a) self-studied

(b) taken a course but would like an intense 2 days of revision in the weeks prior to sitting the exams

(c) previously studied and now need a refresher

Can I pay in installments?

For the Prep course we offer a payment plan, but if you pay upfront then the full set of books are included.

What if I miss a session?

Every session is recorded and posted in the protected ' Delegate Area', within 24 hours of taking place.

Do you offer private tuition?

Yes. Please contact for a call to discuss your bespoke requirements.
